Guys, on the topic of 1.02 and 1.04 - ent sent me a message today. ent is the one who fixed us joMME, for the record.
This is what he says:
Now about your new topics on jk2ffa/r2oclan/jkhub about attracting people to JK2 1.02. You were discussing about Steam version and that it has version 1.04. Why none of JK2 1.02ers did not think about a simple thing? Since all you don't like is the new game physics or how you call it that is done on game mod module and on client game mod module (to sync w/ the game mod one), then why not just to make those modules with JK2 1.02 saber combat and physics for the 1.04 engine? It's like I made joMME support demos from 2 versions, that wasn't actually the engine related much. All that the new engine brings is some new API and a bit changed protocol, plus it has some bug fixes. So all you guys needed since 2002 (or 2003) is to just compile game and cgame modules with new API calls or even without if it's not necessary and then make it as a pk3 with 2 qvms, call it some jk2oldschool and that would fix all your problems.
So my suggestion is to make a mod for JK2 1.04 engine that would bring a game logic from 1.02 modules.
Maybe I am missing some point that would make my POV impossible. If so, then, please, tell.
I don't have contact with our coders, but I'm sure some of you do. Could you please forward it to them and get a real discussion on this? Also since ent knows a lot about these things, he might be able to assist if we should need it, although he hasn't said anything about that yet. Should put this in a new topic maybe, if it seems doable.
